Mission Statement
The Volunteer Missionary Movement (VMM) is an international community of Christians, with its origins in the Catholic tradition. We proclaim the Good News by sharing our lives, resources and skills, and thus challenge oppressive and unjust structures and promote equality, respect and dignity for all. We are committed to international justice and "transformation of all things in Christ."
Description
VMM-USA is a Christian community of lay missioners, and currently places missioners in Central America, the United States, and in Africa. We are an ecumenical Christian movement, seeking creative ways to share mission through our work and our witness. Founded in 1969 by Edwina Gateley, our charism is stated in the "VMM Spirit and Lifestyle." Gathering together to pray and share our lives forms the fabric of the VMM community, "working together in a divided world."
