Mission Statement

Rainbows provides free, community-based peer support groups for children who have suffered a significant family loss from death, separation, divorce, and abandonment.

Description

Internatonally, Rainbows groups have served over 2 million children and families since 1983. In New Jersey alone, there are currently more than 100 active Rainbows sites in schools, churches, YMCA's, and social service agencies in communities from Sussex to Atlantic Counties. Rainbow groups provide a safe, neutral place for children to process their feelings and heal after a significant loss in the family, and it also provides an important source of support for the parents and adult guardians of the participants. Rainbows is an entirely volunteer-driven organization, and is always looking for caring adult volunteers to facilitate the groups, and become site coordinators in their local communities.
