Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
To provide a more sustainable housing solution that offers a long-term response to the homeless population impacting Cook County, initially, and then expanding to other counties and cities in the United States.
Bootstrap Villages’ aim is to serve the homeless population that has trouble finding help elsewhere, including those with pets, small families, and unmarried couples. We do not discriminate based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, color, creed, past criminal history, or physical disability. The organization provides housing, food, and programming to help residents develop job skills and prevent future homelessness. The village of tiny homes we will provide are a longer term housing solution with residents being able to stay in the program up to 18 months. The villages’ design will help foster civic participation, shared responsibility, and allow the residents a feeling of "ownership" in their homes and in the surrounding community.
Our hope is that Bootstrap Villages will help raise public awareness about homelessness, reduce stereotypes, and create bridges between members of the local community. Also, it will empower local citizens to participate directly in an effective solution to a community problem. The safe and stable housing provided by Bootstrap Villages will help residents improve their self image, utilize their current skills while sharing with others, and develop new skills in a safe and accepting environment where they will be seen as equals.
