Mission Statement

The Rockland Parent-Child Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the richest possible relationship between parents and their children. Our play and support groups, parent education workshops and community speaker events address the unique circumstances and needs of parents with young children, school age children and families facing specific challenges in their lives. Each program we offer provides peer and professional support to increase family skills, decrease family stress and enable families to build formal and informal networks of support.

Description

We provide Family Support programming for families raising children from expectant parents, to infants and toddlers, all the way up to parents raising adolescents. Our programming encompasses one-time free workshops to multi-session parenting classes as well as ongoing support groups, discussion groups and early childhood playgroups.

Our single largest program is for families coping with parental incarceration and alcohol and drug addiction. This program includes; parenting groups in the local county jail, case management and re-entry support for both parent and family, mentoring for the parents, mentoring for their children, community education and a parent-child visitation program.

Some programs charge fees but most are sliding scale, scholarships are always offered and no one is turned away for inability to pay.
