The International Museum of Muslim Culture’s aim is to be a venue for presenting the diverse Islamic cultural histories & contributions and serve as an educational resource for teaching global consciousness, historical literacy, and multicultural appreciation.

Description

As America’s first Islamic history and culture museum, IMMC is dedicated to educating the American public about Islamic history and culture, the contribution of Muslims to the global community, and the diversity of the Muslim community. IMMC’s aim is to be a venue for presenting the diverse Islamic cultural histories & contributions and serve as an educational resource for teaching global consciousness, historical literacy, and multicultural appreciation.

Since the museum’s inception, IMMC launched three major exhibits: Islamic Moorish Spain: Its Legacy to Europe and the West; the Legacy of Timbuktu: Wonders of the Written Word and Capture the Spirit of Ramadan photography. The museum hosted over 150,000 visitors representing 49 states and 15 countries. Since its inception, the museum has impacted over 30, 000 students, conducted hundreds of teacher training workshops and community meetings, developed human rights and cultural relevancy curriculum that is currently being tested at the largest school district in Mississippi, and help three national conferences.
