The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
We support strong neighborhoods, authentic engagement, and community problem-solving.
The City of Gresham's Office of Neighborhoods and Community Engagement (ONCE) offers a one-stop shopping approach to creating a strong sense of community in Gresham, using our neighborhoods as the building blocks for engaging our community. ONCE also provides assistance to all City departments on outreach and engagement efforts.
Neighborhood Associations offer a great way to get to know your neighbors while working to improve your community. ONCE provides coordination and assistance to our Neighborhood Associations as well as the Neighborhood Coalition, which is made up of representatives from each local association.
ONCE includes East Metro Mediation services, which provides neutral mediators to help resolve problems involving neighbors, housing, business-customer disputes, and workplace issues. The program also offers workshops and training in conflict resolution.
ONCE serves as the volunteer center for the City of Gresham, offering volunteer matching and coordination for our City. Every year hundreds of residents give their expertise and time as a volunteer through the City's volunteer program.
