Mission Statement

We must gather accurate data on our homeless population to track the success of local efforts to end homelessness. By complying with the federal requirement to conduct a biennial homeless census, our community can receive over $4 million annually in federal funding for homeless services and housing.

Description

The Community Development Department works primarily with funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help develop viable urban communities, principally benefiting low to moderate income persons. Community Development provides the resources for decent and affordable housing; improvement and expansion of community facilities and infrastructure; and creation of new job opportunities.
