Mission Statement

The mission of the South Plainfield Rescue Squad is to render first aid to the citizens of our borough and anyone else who calls for help. We are to respond to a call for help 24 hrs per day and 365 days per year.

Description

The South Plainfield Rescue Squad has been in existence since 1945. We are currently comprised of approximately 40 active volunteers who are highly trained EMT's are First responders. We welcome new members who are willing to lend a helping hand to those who are in need. All training and clothing is provided free of charge to all members. A blue emergency light will be issued to all who complete training and the probationary period. Training is not difficult and volunteering on the rescue squad can be done by just about anyone. All members must be 'on call' with a special plektron pager (provided) 1 night per week and 1-2 weekend days per month OR 15 hours per week during business hours (7am to 7pm, monday-friday). Some types of emergency calls you may see while volunteering are: chest pains and medical emergencies, severe car accidents with extrication that we provide, child birth, train wrecks, industrial accidents, structural fires, hazardous materials incidents, and mother nature at its' worst such as hurricanes, snow storms, and severe thunderstorms that we often see. We also implimented a new associates program intended for EMT's or first responders who are affiliated with another organization but work in south plainfield. Requirements are less expecting than the general membership. New in 2002 is our EMS Bike Team which will be covering special events throughout town and the state. Call us now and find out how easy it is to help save a life!!!
