Overview: Alzheimer's Association Community Educators are volunteer public speakers who deliver educational programs on Alzheimer's and related topics to community audiences. Key Activities: Deliver approximately 12 presentations annually using prepared Alzheimer’s Association consumer education programs. Collaborate with local Association staff to secure community partners, schedule presentations, deliver programs, and manage materials. Serve as presenters for chapter-scheduled education programs and conferences. Proactively refer individuals to Alzheimer's Association programs and the free 24/7 Helpline. Qualifications: Bilingual in English AND one of the following: Spanish, Chinese-Mandarin, Korean, Haitian Creole, Bengali. Demonstrated success in health education with strong communication, presentation, and adult education skills. Comfortable with computers, email, and PowerPoint presentations. Ability to network and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners. Passionate about the Alzheimer’s Association mission with personal or professional experience with dementia preferred. Must be age 21 or older. Background checks are required. Commitment Expected: Deliver a target of 12 presentations annually. All Community Educators must deliver a 10-15 minute awareness presentation as their first program. Participate in initial training and ongoing education. Terms are renewable annually based on goal-setting conversations with staff partners. Deliver 15-20-minute awareness presentations virtually or in-person to community organizations, congregations, civic groups, and more. Promote support groups, education programs, and Alzheimer & Brain Awareness Month initiatives using local connections and social media. Establish connections with new community organizations and link individuals to additional Association services and volunteer opportunities. Qualifications: Self-motivated individuals comfortable with outreach and community engagement. Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with proficiency in computers and email.
