Mission Statement
Our mission is to deliver innovative outdoor, science-based education programs for youth to develop critical thinking skills and to inspire natural resource stewardship.
Description
Sierra Nevada Journeys (SNJ) is currently seeking capable volunteers to help us develop the youth of Sacramento into the problem solvers, engineers, scientists, and passionate outdoor enthusiasts of future generations.
We are seeking individuals interested in leading small groups of elementary students on field-based studies at local natural areas and individuals interested in leading science stations at our Family Science Night events. Individuals interested in becoming a field educator will undergo orientation and training with Sierra Nevada Journeys, which will include classroom and field-based program observation. Volunteers do not need a background in science or education.
Volunteering with Sierra Nevada Journeys is an opportunity to work with youth and help them develop the problem solving skills they need to succeed.
