Description

Innovators In Health (IIH) was founded at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge MA in 2007 to ensure that the rural poor have access to high quality healthcare.

IIH runs tuberculosis (TB) treatment, and maternal and newborn health (MNH) programs in rural Bihar, India, with a catchment of about 400,000 residents. IIH has screened close to 14,000 rural residents for TB and provided treatment to all those diagnosed with it (about 1800). In 2016, its new MNH program served more than 500 poor, pregnant women. IIH is regarded as one of the leaders in rural TB programs in India, and was recently awarded the Stop TB Partnership's TB Reach grant, and a grant by the India Health Foundation (IHF), a partnership of the Tata Trusts and the Global Fund (GFATM). IIH's work has also been funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Fidelity Foundation, and others.
