To accompany and support people of faith and conscience around the world in the struggle to end poverty and injustice that affect rural communities, and work toward creation of a sustainable community.

Description

The overall program of Agricultural Missions, Inc. (AMI) is dedicated to the accompaniment of rural communities in developing countries and in the United States as well as the North American Churches. Through our specific program areas (Rural Network, Consciousness-Raising, Witness and Advocacy, Rural Sustainability (Gender and Development, Rural Training, Rural Legal Assistance) and Capacity Restoration of Community Organizations Affected by Disasters; AMI supports rural peoples through their local organizations in community building, education and advocacy, production and marketing activities. Our work with the churches in North America is focused on "Consciousness-Raising and Education for Advocacy and Action" and is aimed at providing the churches with information and education on issues that affect rural communities. Using various methodologies including exposure and interaction, we address issues of agriculture and trade policies, economic and social justice, the environment, (including the use of Genetically Modified Organisms), food security and sovereignty and others.
