Mission Statement

The Braintree Community Youth Center (BCYC) strives to be a fun and safe environment for all young people who enter its doors. We seek to offer an open meeting and gathering place free of discrimination based upon race, ethnicity, religion, and sexual orientation. We do not in any way encourage or condone violence and encourage alternative solutions and conclusions as a means to resolve problems that may occur. The Braintree Community Youth Center encourages the participation of youth in its growth allowing the Center to be a reflection of youth needs, wants and achievements. By this it is hoped that this process will encourage creativity and community participation of its members, encouraging the development of positive relationships with persons of all ages within the community or from surrounding towns.

Description

Our youth center is a safe, fun, affordable place for the kids to hang out, play, learn social interaction skills and grow friendships. The BCYC is currently open on Friday and Saturday nights. Braintree youth in grades 7-12 can hang out as a member or be a guest of a member. (Youth from other towns can also hang out as the guest of a member.) Youth can hang out, play pool, ping pong or other games, watch TV, play video games, and enjoy snacks. The Youth Center has tables, chairs, couches, and TVs.

We volunteer once a month at the Braintree Community Youth Center. It is a great place in the town for kids to go and hang out and be with other kids they know already. There is plenty to do, popular video games, pool, ping pong, WII, and of course sit and chat with each other. And the snack bar is loaded with a variety of choices. The Youth Center is a great asset to the town of Braintree, it is a safe environment that parents can know where their kids are and that they are having a good time on a weekend night, instead of being somewhere unknown hanging with no supervision. And being a volunteer here, it is like an evening out for us too...we get to socialize and play pool, and sit and chat!! It is a great place to spend a few hours. Come and check it out! LynnZ & Jim
