Summary:
The H.O.M.E Mentor, as a member of the Homebuyer Support Committee, is committed to carrying out the stated purpose of the committee and Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka. Primarily important is the support the Homebuyer Mentor provides to their Homebuyer Family by empowering them through homeownership. The Homebuyer Mentor relates to them holistically, respecting the values and individuality of each family member.
Training: Each volunteer family mentor will attend a one-day training session. Ongoing training sessions will be provided as needed.
Expected Commitment:
- Responsibilities begin when you are assigned with a family and continue for one year after the family moves into their home.
- Attendance at monthly committee meetings is expected.
3. The Family Mentor may choose to discontinue involvement after their family term is
complete or renew by asking to be assigned to a new family.
- Attend at least one dedication while serving.
Responsibilities:

- Serve as a liaison between the family and Habitat to ensure that the family understands the requirements of becoming a Habitat homeowner:

Mission Statement
Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to build and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in partnership with low- and very low-income residents in Seminole County and Apopka.
Description
While our origins are Christian in nature, we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual identity, age or any other factor. Simply put, we seek to give people of all backgrounds a hand up -- not a handout -- in order to ensure a better life and a brighter future. Hardworking & deserving families partner with our organization to achieve the American dream of homeownership. By proving a housing need, demonstrating their ability to pay and fulfilling their partnership requirement, partner families are transformed into homeowners. Habitat Seminole & Apopka has served nearly 130 families in its 20 years, but the need for affordable housing in our commnunity continues to grow. By partnering with local leaders, corporations & small businesses, philanthropic foundations and individuals, we hope to achieve our vision of a world in which everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to live.
