Yellow Text

Volunteer needed to coordinate collection and distribution of used musical instruments "from pianos to piccolos" donated to the Guild to be given to appropriate students or schools. This individual would work to expand this needed sharing and seek donations to cover fees for "new student musicians" and arrange for pickup and delivery of instruments.

Activities include contacting instrument donors, retrieving the value of the instruments, giving receipts to the donors, obtaining information about the address of the donor and instrument, and determining whether the instrument can be donated to a deserving school or consigned.

This position would be ideal for a college or graduate student, a stay at home mother, or a retiree. Please contact the Opera NOVA offices at mcdm1@verizon.net or (703) 536-7557. Opera NOVA is a non-profit corporation tax-deductible under IRS Code 510 (c)(3) and is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Mission Statement

Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

Description

Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.

Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
