Mission Statement

We cultivate strong cohesive families by creating opportunties, strengthen assests and building communities.

Description

Building Families First Community Organization (BFFCO) is a 501c3 nonprofit that encourages families to take ownership of their lives and adopt financially responsible behavior, while becoming independent of governmental assistance

BFFCO goal is to once again see public housing and housing assistance (Section 8), utilized as the transitional or temporary resources it was originally intended to be. We believe that public housing was never intended to become a permanent home and we should discourage that perception from the becoming the status quo for the families currently receiving housing assistance. Another goal of the program, particularly in light of recent Welfare to Work initiatives, is to "break the cycle of poverty" that still exists among many of our public housing residents.

It is the expressed purposes of the BFFCO Family Self-Sufficiency Program to assist low-income families achieve the American dream of true upward mobility.
