Expectant Mothers Nutrition Guide-Research

Cause Areas

Sat Dec 17, 2016 - Sat May 20, 2017

This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.

We have an immediate need for volunteers to research the incidence and if possible the cause of vitamin/mineral toxicities in the general population and for special cases of above normal need for a particular nutrient and/or a sensitivity or intolerance of other nutrients. There is much confusion, misinformation and absence of key information on nutrition recommendations for expectant mothers. Through searching databases and medical literature and developing a user-friendly database and website, we expect to remedy this. We are developing computer programs that provide customized analysis of individual diets and make recommendations for modification in diet and/or supplementing diet to achieve the optimal nutrient intake for mother and developing infant while at the same time not getting an excess of nutrients that could be harmful.
