Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles - Philadelphia will work with you to set up a group Doorhanging or Postering Day!
You are invited to bring anywhere from 2-25 people to volunteer together on a single day. We will work with you to arrange a 4-hour block of time on the day that works best for you & your group. We'll provide a brief training, water & snacks for all volunteers. For larger groups, it is possible to arrange lunch as well.
Your efforts support the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF.org). Each hour worked by a member of your volunteer group raises $100-$150 for sustainable economic development in the hands of the African community. For example: if your group has 15 volunteers, in just 3 hours you will have raised $1500-$2250 for the African People's Education and Defense Fund!
What is "Doorhanging"?
* A fun, outdoor project that is physical and lets you explore Philly
* An activity that is great for medium to large groups
* Organized teams of 2 take designated city blocks and hang Uhuru flyers on doorknobs (no knock & talk!)
* Promotes Uhuru Furniture all over Philadelphia for furniture donations & shopping
* Reaches donors right at their door, creating immediate and future donations for Uhuru!
* We also organize group projects putting up posters in stores, on bulletinboards and poles in various neighborhoods.
Every year, Uhuru Furniture engages hundreds of volunteers to meet our yearly goal of distributing 30,000-40,000 doorhangers! We work with high school & college groups, as well as various fraternities & sororities, and other volunteer organizations. If your group engages in community service, or your school has a community service requirement, an Uhuru Furniture "Doorhanging Day" is perfect for you!
The African People's Education and Defense Fund is initiating programs across the country for sustainable economic development, community & youth upliftment, health and social justice in the black community.
