West Sacramento, Let's Do Lunch!
Do you have two hours a week to make a difference in the life of homebound seniors? For many who can no longer cook for themselves, this is their only hot meal for the day AND the volunteer is the only person they see that day. We’ll provide the food - you help provide the friendship.
You can choose any day(s), Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays, for a shift that begins at 10:30am. We ask volunteers to assist daily, once a week, twice a month, or act as a substitute as needed.
Volunteers must have a current driver’s license, current car insurance, pass our provided background check, and be at least 18 years old.
Drivers will use their own vehicle to deliver meals. Drivers take a hot meal to the door of each senior on the route, anywhere from 6-20 homes, taking approximately an hour and half to complete.
Faith-based, service, or business groups can volunteer and share routes and schedules.
Please contact us to discuss the many ways to volunteer and how this can fit into your schedule.

Description
Meals on Wheels Yolo County (People Resources, Inc.) has been providing a daily hot meal to seniors in Yolo County for over 40 years. Freshly prepared hot food is delivered to sites in Woodland, West Sacramento, Winters and Davis. There, about 2/3 of the bulk food is packaged for home delivery by volunteers. Seniors look forward to their meal and to the personal attention of a familiar visitor. The other 1/3 of the food is plated and served to seniors who travel to the 4 senior centers to socialize over lunch.
Our organization needs volunteers to deliver meals and a friendly smile each day to seniors, particularly in our most difficult to serve communities. We also need volunteers in other areas, such as clerical, helping us care for our fleet of delivery vehicles, helping in our five kitchens, etc.
