Believers United for Progress, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2004 and incorporated in 2007, for the purpose of strengthening the community. We are mainly active in the Durham, North Carolina area, with strong ties to the Hayti neighborhood. By utilizing grants and donations we provide basic necessities like food to the people of the community through the Child Adult Care Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). We have a strong focus on at-risk children and their families, which provides us with opportunities for new programs. With our ability to provide food and books we also provide for people in the community to come together and to have a place to give back, thus reinvesting in the communities themselves.

The summer feeding service program is a very important project. It ensures that children eat during the summer months while school is out. It starts around June 13th, of every year and ends around August the 20th; we provide free breakfast and lunch to children at different sites. We are looking for site supervisors, delivery personnel, cooks, and food preps. Breakfast is an hour and a half to two hours and lunch is around the same time frame. For example breakfast may run from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and lunch can be from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Again this is a very important project to ensure that our children are getting fed while school is out. Your organization also can become a site to feed the children. You can be a church, summer school or summer recreation center, camp, Synagogue, Masque, parks, or anyplace where children could be gathered such as apartment complexes.
