"This is just what I needed, a dose of upcoming life!"
--Experience Corps Volunteer Ron Williams, North Oakland

Experience Corps is an innovative, intergenerational tutoring and mentoring program, aimed at uniting the love and knowledge of our communities' older adults with the needs of children in our public schools. Our unique model offers comprehensive training, on-site support, and an opportunity not only to build meaningful relationships with youth, but also connect with other older adult volunteers.

No prior experience with children necessary- just the heart to help a student succeed! Tutor or mentor one-on-one or work with students in small groups. Volunteers assist students in K-3rd grade with a strong focus on improving student literacy. Minimum commitment of 4 hrs/week; stipends available for older adults serving 10 or more hrs/week. Placements available in North Oakland, Fruitvale, and Lake Merritt neighborhoods.
