Believers United for Progress, a 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2004 and incorporated in 2007, for the purpose of strengthening the community. We are mainly active in the Durham, North Carolina area, with strong ties to the Hayti neighborhood. By utilizing grants and donations we provide basic necessities like food to the people of the community through the Child Adult Care Program (CACFP) and Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). We have a strong focus on at-risk children and their families, which provides us with opportunities for new programs. With our ability to provide food and books we also provide for people in the community to come together and to have a place to give back, thus reinvesting in the communities themselves.

Operation Clean Sweep is a neighborhood beautification program. Operation Clean Sweep is designed to remove trash from the neighborhood, paint over unwanted graffiti and create a positive environment that residents can be proud of. We seek to engage the residents to take over the beautification and maintenance of their community. The plan is to reach out to people in the neighborhood who are involved in undesirable and unproductive behavior and encourage them to maintain the cleanliness and beauty of their neighborhood. Additionally, we want to encourage these same people to seek productive behavior, to identify positive alternatives to unproductive behavior, and to provide them with information regarding government and nonprofit services and agencies in their communities.

We engage in this project with flexibile hours from 10am to 4pm
