This is a very important and essential role in educating and empowering our youth to become self-responsible for their own lives. If there is no structure and consistency on our turf how can we as counselors expect the kids to foster these essential life traits on their turf? A supervisor is a trained StandUp For Kids counselor who has spent at least twenty-five hours hands-on with our kids at the Outreach Center (and, an additional twenty-five hours on the streets as a counselor). Moreover, a supervisor is appointed so by the Director of the Outreach Center or Director of Volunteers. The supervisor must show and exercise the necessary leadership skills, as well as demonstrate the appropriate initiative in praise and stern discipline. For example, when the kids question the counselors authority, it is the Center supervisors job to enforce the needed discipline for the situation.
