If you love animals and Christmas, this is the volunteer event for you!
Pet lovers will be out in full force at the 12k's of Christmas and Santa's Pet Village. It is one of the largest pet adoption events of the season as well as a fun run/walk that welcomes people to come out with their pets. You'll see families all dressed up in fun Christmas costumes with their dressed up dogs and decorated strollers. Santa has gifts under the tree for the best Christmas-themed running outfits, cutest kids, best-decorated entries and of course, the cutest pets!
Come out and help us to help the animals!
Saturday Dec 14th, Gilbert Freestone Park
The 12k's of Christmas event includes a run/walk, Santa's Pet Village with pet adoptions, Christmas Bazaar and Christmas caroling.
Over 25 animal rescues will participate in Santa's Pet Village; there to find homes for rescued pets this Christmas. Proceeds from the event provide donations to all of the rescue groups participating in the event. Over the past 8 years, the 12k’s of Christmas has helped over 2,200 pets find loving homes. Plus we have donated over $100,000 to Maricopa County Animal Care & Control and other pet rescue and animal care organizations.
Volunteers are needed to help with event setup and assisting rescue groups, providing directions and helping direct folks in the parking lots, helping with registration/packet pickup, filling dog water bowls and doing poop patrol, providing water to runners & walkers on the course and in the park, working as course monitors to direct runners and walkers, providing food to runners & walkers, and general cleanup.
All volunteers receive a Santa's Helper ball cap and snacks at Santa's Kitchen. Volunteer shifts are between 5:30 am and 1 pm, typically 3 to 4 hours.
