Meals on Wheels Delivery

Join our Volunteer team to help Meals on Wheels in King County fight hunger! As a Meals on Wheels Volunteer, you will belong to a team committed to helping homebound seniors maintain their health and independence with nutritious food, personal contact, and caring service.

Backup Driver: A volunteer backup driver is needed to deliver Meals Wednesday mornings, as needed. Volunteers arrive at the center to pick up meals between 8:30 am - 9:30 am, and deliveries typically take 1 - 2 hours. This position would be on the occasional basis (filling in when one of weekly drivers is away). Mileage is reimbursable. We are looking for volunteers who are interested in volunteering long term.

Qualifications: Good communication and people skills, reliable, good cheer, and a commitment to the well-being of homebound elders. This is an on-going volunteer commitment.

Requirements: Complete an application, consent to a background check, be able to lift 15lbs, be at least 18 years of age, and have a Washington state driver’s license and auto insurance.

Sound Generations, established in 1967, is Washington State's most comprehensive non-profit organization that supports people on their aging journey through community connections and accessible services. Established in 1967, we support almost 54,000 older adults, disabled persons, and those who care for them annually in King County.

Our eleven programs operating throughout numerous community and senior center sites are constantly striving to expand the provision of food security, transportation, health & wellness, and assistance services to under served and marginalized populations. We are committed to helping all people, especially those in low-income communities and communities of color, obtain the services they need while feeling included and respected in a community that affirms aging.
