Santa Fe Animal Shelter

As a Foster Parent for kittens, puppies, and adult dogs & cats, you provide an opportunity for Shelter pets to grow and socialize outside of the shelter environment. When you become an Adoption Ambassador, you move one step beyond. In this role, you can help facilitate the adoption process for the pet who you have come to know very well.

The New Hope Coordinator provides all they training you need to become successful and works to provide ongoing support throughout the process. Please consider opening your home to a Shelter pet that is still looking for their home.

Mission Statement

Since 1939, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter has been dedicated to its mission: support animals, save lives, spread compassion.

We are northern New Mexico’s largest open-admission, no-kill shelter. Our Live Release Rate is currently at 94.2 percent.

As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we receive nearly all of our funding from private donors in our community and beyond. Santa Fe Animal Shelter focuses on spay/neuter programs to control overpopulation, creative adoption efforts to bring pets to loving families and dozens of programs providing support for marginalized animals.
