Don't want to be tied down for long term volunteer commitment? How about helping out around Christmas time first 3 weeks in December each year to help with distributing holiday gifts to abused & neglected children, seniors and disabled adults? The Gifts From The Heart Program is a holiday gift-giving program which serves only the less fortunate children on Child Protective Services and low income and isolated senior clients on Senior and Adult Services Divisions in Department of Child, Family & Adult Services. This program works with more than 100 and corporate sponsors to spread the holiday cheers to nearly 3,500 children and seniors each season!
We need volunteer drivers to collect gift donations, deliver gifts to the seniors' homes, and/or sort gifts at the warehouse where we store gifts. Must be able to commit to a minimum of 2-3 half days per week during the 3 weeks. Volunteers need to be able to reach, bend, stand for a relative long period of time at time, and lift up to 25 lbs.
We also have an opportunity for a one day volunteer opportunity: to assist in setting up the Santa Shop at the warehouse on Saturday, December 14th, between 9am and 5pm. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
Volunteers may apply for non-driver position if driving is not preferred.
Background check is required for all warehouse volunteers. Printout of DMV driving record is required of volunteer drivers in addition to background check.
