A volunteering project in Nepal is an experience for those ready for a challenge. It is a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange whilst teaching and living within the Syangja community for 3 months at the foothills of the Himalayas. Your teaching project is followed by an optional period of independent group travel in Nepal and/or India, all with 24-hour support from our local representative.
Spare time in the evening or at weekends is spent preparing your lessons or with your host family and volunteer partner.
You and your partner will live in an apartment next door to your host family. You will be quite independent but have your family there if you need them. You have your own space and 'facilities’. It is basic i.e. intermittent electricity, so you will quickly adjust to this simple way of life.
A Day in the Life of a Volunteer:
You will start your day early and walk to school with your pupils. Whilst volunteering in Nepal you will teach children English at the local primary or secondary school. Lunch will be provided at school. Free time in school is spent lesson planning and marking books. There is also time for sports, as well as art and music for those who are keen on extra-curricular activities. The more you put in, the more you will get out of your project.
Our volunteer projects are a great way to improve your skills and enhance your CV - stand out from the crowd at job interviews! It is a competitive market out there - help others to help yourself!
