Second Harvest Food Bank is in need of happy and loving volunteers for our LATHROP and TRACY sites:
Mobile Fresh is a direct distribution of free produce and assorted items to those that are low-income and having a difficult time accessing (affording) fresh produce. The truck shows up and 200 participants go through a check in line, scan their card, receive a nutrition handout, and go around the truck stopping at each bin for the volunteers to put the food in their bag. A lot like trick or treating! Each participant leaves with about 30-40 pounds of food, so many of them also need help to their cars.
- Carry Bags to cars
- Distribute produce/food
- Hand out nutrition
- Help with sign ups and scanning cards
- Set up/clean up.
Time Involved: 2 x's a month approximently 2 hours per distribution. Volunteers must be able to carry 20+ pounds, bend, and stand for long periods of time in all weather. If you have a smile to share, a positive attitude, and a desire to give- we are looking for you!
GROUPS WELCOMED! You can come one time or every time! Please contact Second Harvest Food Bank at 209-239-2091 or email Stephanie Moreno mobilefresh@secondharvest.org.
