Responsibilities include answering questions from visitors (mostly about where the bathroom is and where the trail goes), selling items from the gift shop (including operating the cash register), answering phone calls and showing visitors around the nature center. One-on-one training is provided. Volunteer shifts are either 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Sundays or 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Some weekday shifts may be available.

Our mission is to develop in children and adults an appreciation of the natural world, and to preserve Eaton Canyon as a natural area for future generations.
Description
Eaton Canyon Nature Center is one of the Natural Areas of Los Angeles County. The volunteer support organization, ECNCA,: 1. Trains volunter Docent Naturalists to lead school groups and family nature walks. 2. Assists staff with visitor services and animal care. 3. Operates the Gift Shop and Information Desk. 4. Conducts a lively program of other activities for adults and children. Among others in the past year we've offered monthly moonlight walks, summer twilight nature programs and a variety of walks and talks focusing on plants, birds, Native American history, geology or other aspects of natural history of the area.
