Tutoring Time!

Create Your Dreams (CYD) is a long-term, youth development program devoted to nurturing the talents and dreams of under-served students through a long term enrichment program.

CYD seeks tutors for students grades 2-12, to provide one-on-one academic support for students who need extra help reaching their potential in school.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend tutoring sessions as scheduled. If an absence is anticipated, please inform tutorial coordinator.
  • Assist student through the learning process as defined by the program guidelines.
  • Assist student with filling out weekly goals.
  • Help the student develop confidence and a positive attitude toward learning.
  • Keep staff informed about tutoring experience, job assignments, or any concerns you may have regarding the program.

Qualifications

  • Be at least 14 years of age
  • Sensitive and adaptable to learner's differences and needs
  • Patience and enthusiasm
Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week. You choose the day: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday from 3pm to 5pm (elementary) or 5pm to 7pm (middle and high school).

Description

Create Your Dreams is a youth development program in Northwest Atlanta devoted to nurturing the talents and dreams of under-served students through a long term enrichment program.

CYD AfterSchool: Our structured curriculum builds a variety of skills, values creativity and covers many topics of interest to our students.

Extra Hours: Fun trips to educational, cultural, and entertainment venues in Atlanta and beyond, special clubs where our students can focus on a specific interest, and summer programming. T

Tutoring : One-on-one academic support for students who need extra help reaching their potential in school.

College Prep: Personalized preparation and guidance for our students so they can be successful in attaining a higher education and building a stable career, beginning in 9th grade. Includes our College Needs Fund that supports our students with educational expenses.

Transitions Program: A series of workshops and activities designed to prepare our students for success at each stage of their life, focusing on their transitions from middle to high school, high school to a higher education, and from a degree/certificate to a successful career.
