Special Olympics Orange County will offer swim lessons for 100 students with special needs in partnership with the Chapel Hill/Carrboro school systems. The youth are K-12 and range in skill level from first exposure in a pool to advanced swimmers. Volunteers of all skill abilities are needed. Classes meet weekly from September 27 through December 15, arranged through 2 five week sessions. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:15-10:50a, 10:55-11:30a. Each class meets 1x weekly, each volunteer needs to select 1 or more practice sessions. Please register through https://forms.office.com/r/hVEf39H3ws.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.
Description
SOOC offers 18 sports year-round to more than 300 athletes of all ages and skill levels with developmental disabilities.
