About Oklahoma County Court Appointed Special Advocate

Location:

5905 Classen Court, Suite 302, Oklahoma City, OK 73118, US

Mission Statement

To advocate for the best interests of children who have been abused and neglected with the goal of achieving a stable and permanent home for each and every child.

Description

Oklahoma County CASA was designed to provide trained volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates for abused and neglected children. The CASA volunteer serves as the "eyes and ears" of the court by providing the information the judge needs in order to make a decision that is truly in the child's best interest. The CASA will conduct an independent investigation, seeking out pertinent information and ensuring that the child has a home-like placement. The CASA will make recommendations to the court of methods to provide a safe, permanent home for the child. The CASA will facilitate and mediate between parties involved in the court case. The CASA will monitor the progress of the parents and the children and report to the judge on the progress. Ultimately, the CASA's role is to decrease the amount of disruption in a child's life and to help ensure that a child's right to a stable and permanent home is fulfilled. A CASA Case Manager is assigned to each CASA Volunteer to provide the technical support that is needed. A Case Manager will attend all court hearings with the volunteer.
