ORGANIZATION: Mystic Valley Elder Services, Inc.

Volunteers are needed to assist isolated elders and individuals living with disabilities with monthly finances. The consumers who are referred to the program lack the support of a friend or family member who might ordinarily take on this role. Money Managers meet with their client a few times a month to assist that client with balancing a checkbook, paying bills and staying within a budget.

Volunteers are needed in Malden, Melrose, Revere, Winthrop, and other surrounding communities.

Although the job title is Money Manager, volunteers are not financial advisers; the elder maintains control of his/her finances. Ongoing training and support are provided by the program manager. This is an excellent opportunity to develop positive relationships with those in need of support while promoting their safe independence in the community! Bilingual Individuals are encouraged to apply as English is not the first language for many program recipients.

Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) is a non-profit agency that provides essential home- and community-based care and resources such as assistance with personal care, household chores, meals, and transportation to more than 20,000 older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers living in 11 communities north of Boston. Description

MVES is a nonprofit organization that since 1975 has acted as an entry point through which elders, families, caregivers, and health care professionals can access a wide variety of programs, services, and supports. MVES is one of the largest in a network of 25 similar aging services organizations in Massachusetts. MVES promotes safe, independence for elders and adults living with disabilities in eleven cities and towns north of Boston.
