Eva cracking corn at Fosterfields
Eva demonstrating our corn cracker, 2022

Do you love research, historical gardens, or farm events? If so, this may be the opportunity for you!

This fall (2023), there are plenty of ways to help out at Fosterfields & Historic Sites! Whether you enjoy assisting with mansion tours, special events like Fall Farm Fun, or helping our 2023 Halloween exhibits, our museum staff would appreciate your help.

Our farm engages learners in various hands-on farm chores, such as butter churning and corn cracking, using antique machinery. Plus, introduce visitors to our cows, horses, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, and turkeys!

Later, in the fall, you can become a school tour guide at Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, and teach school groups all about the history of farming in 1880s-1920s Morristown.

For those who prefer working behind the scenes, gardening and Collections work is available year round.

Volunteers receive training from our staff, as well as time-period clothing.
We will work with your schedule. Weekly commitments are appreciated but not required.
Generally open to ages 15+. Groups are welcome.

Besides Fosterfields, we also manage Historic Speedwell in Morristown, birthplace of the telegraph; and the Cooper Gristmill in Chester, NJ. If you sign up, we'll keep in touch regarding those opportunities as well.

Thank you for your interest!
