  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 6 people are interested

Haven House is currently planning our signature Purple Ribbon Initiative, a month-long series of events around Rio Rancho as part of October's Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We are greatly in need of volunteers and financial sponsors for this important community-wide campaign. Supporters can participate in any of the following meaningful ways:

  • Help us "paint the town purple" with lights and ribbons to raise awareness of domestic violence in our community.
  • Decorate areas of your workplace in purple.
  • Hold a Domestic Violence Awareness Day where employees wear purple clothes and ribbons.
  • Attend our Purple Ribbon events, such as 1) Haven House's Balloon Fiesta Mass Ascension Breakfast on Saturday, October 8th, and 2) Haven House's Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, October 19th.
  • Become an Official Sponsor of the Purple Ribbon Initiative. (A Sponsorship Level Information Sheet is available upon request.)
  • Make an in-kind donation of shelter supplies, such as gas vouchers, merchandise cards, phone cards, toiletries, (lotions, shampoos, deodorants, etc.), pajamas, towels and bedding.

We are also open to additional ideas for potential collaborations with volunteers, local businesses and partner agencies.

Please contact us for more information.

Thank you!

Mission Statement

Help domestic violence victims gain immediate safety plus knowledge, skills, and resources to succeed in lives free of violence.

Description

Founded in 1994, Haven House Domestic Violence Services and Shelter began as an all-volunteer corps of concerned New Mexico citizens who banded together to provide advocacy services and emergency shelter for domestic violence victims. In 2001, Haven House Shelter made its official debut, with a five-bedroom facility on a safe, undisclosed site. After 17 years in existence, Haven House still remains the sole agency in all of Sandoval County (pop. 130,000) that is strictly dedicated to serving domestic violence victims and their families.

Our services include a 24-hour hotline, crisis/case management, legal advocacy, therapeutic counseling, support groups, life-skills training and temporary shelter. Haven House's devoted 25-member staff strives to empower courageous survivors of violence to heal their emotional wounds, seize their internal strength and regain control of their lives. Through educational outreach and trainings, we also seek to promote broader awareness about domestic violence among our community, with the ultimate goal of eliminating all forms of abuse--physical, sexual, emotional, verbal and financial.
