Are you interested in making a difference in someone's life? Volunteer with the National Runaway Safeline today! 24/7 nationwide services.
Since 1971, Crisis Liners are volunteers who are responsible for providing crisis intervention through 1-800-RUNAWAY hotline and now also 1800RUNAWAY.org online digital services. Liners are trained to effectively provide support and services for runaway, homeless, and at risk youth and their families in a non-judgmental and empowering manner. The monthly training programs consists of 40 hours of instruction, discussion, role-plays, and on-the-job training in the crisis center. All training activities support the liners in learning successful active listening and solution focused crisis intervention skills. After completion of training, volunteers are asked to commit 2-4 hours/week for at least one year. Liners must be at least 16 years of age. Wheelchair accessible. Liners are scheduled from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. Break up your week or your day for 2-3 hours and come in make a difference in someone's life. Great location, parking, public trans, area food, shopping, etc.

Mission Statement
The National Runaway Safeline (NRS) is a not-for-profit volunteer organization whose mission is to keep America's runaway, homeless and at-risk youth safe and off the streets.
Description
Established in 1971, The National Runaway Safeline operates 24/7 nationwide crisis hotline and chat services for runaway youth, teens in crisis, and concerned friends and family members. NRS services include: trauma sensitive solution focused crisis intervention, digital services (crisis chat, crisis emails), message relay between runaways and their parent/legal guardian, referrals and conference calls to community-based resources such as counseling, support groups, alternative housing, and health care, a Home Free program in partnership with Greyhound Buslines, Inc. to help runaway and homeless youth return home to their families, education and outreach services, free NRS promotional materials for distribution at community events, school assemblies, and health fairs.
