Our neighbors need your help!
West Seattle Helpline provides emergency assistance to low-income individuals and families in our community. Our clients have faced a crisis or unexpected hardship and are working hard to get back on their feet.
Our Helpline Hotline is the primary way that families apply for and access our services. As a Hotline volunteer, you will answer and return calls from clients and walk them through our assistance application process, schedule appointments at our clothing bank, and help them find services to meet their needs. You will be a part of our work helping thousands of families each year recover from difficult circumstances and get back on track!
This volunteer position is excellent experience for those looking to go into social work, the nonprofit sector, or work with low-income populations. We ask for a regular commitment to ensure consistent services for our clients, ideally once a week. We are happy to work with your schedule to find a time that is convenient!

Please contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Yesenia Garcia, at volunteer@wshelpline.org with any questions. Thanks!

Mission Statement
The West Seattle Helpline is a non-profit social service agency offering temporary emergency assistance for West Seattle neighbors. We provide financial aid and referral advice to members of our community who find themselves in need. We also have a clothing bank where families can get 3 free outfits every two months. By providing access to a wide range of information and community services we also help people find their way toward self-sufficiency.
Description
Each year we help approximately 1,200 West Seattle residents who, because of illness, loss of employment, disability, limited income, or a combination of circumstances, find themselves in need. Our services include direct aid toward rent, utilities, food, clothes, transportation, and referrals to other needed services. We do problem solving with clients to find long-term solutions. The Helpline is funded by individuals, churches, and businesses in West Seattle.
