During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Though you may be sheltering in place, we continue to welcome your volunteer inquiries during this challenging time. Samaritan is looking for people with big hearts and generous spirits to join our volunteer team and we are holding virtual orientation and training sessions to help prepare you for the time when we can all be together again.
We need you - yes, YOU! No special skills required; just share your heart and enrich your life.
Visit with Samaritan's patients and families in their homes or in long-term care facilities in your local communities. Provide a comforting presence, companionship, read, play cards and games, share stories, share military experiences, act as a friend or neighbor. Veterans needed to visit fellow Veterans.
Volunteers visit once a week for 2-4 hours and do not provide any hands-on care. Must be at least 18 years old. No experience or healthcare background needed. Complimentary training is provided.
Qualifications/Requirements:
We ask that all volunteers bring the following qualities to their work at Samaritan: good communication and listening skills, a nonjudgmental attitude, reliability, flexibility, and compassion.
Thank you for considering spending your valuable time with Samaritan and we look forward to hearing from you!
Please note: All who have experienced the loss of a significant family member or friend must wait one year from date of loss to begin the volunteer process.
