ORGANIZATION: PADUCAH MCCRACKEN RSVP

Agency: Museum of American Quilters

Purpose: The purpose of the Museum of American Quilter's Society is to educate the local, national and international public about art, history and heritage of quiltmaking, including the diversity of quilts and their makers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors.
  • Give directions to various exhibits.
  • Answer questions by visitors about the museum and exhibits.
  • Guard quilts from being damaged.

Length of Appointment: Volunteer opportunities are on goingthrough the quilt museum with no specific length of time commitment required.

Time Commitment: Minimum of one hour per month.

Qualifications:

  • Interest in quilts and their history.
  • Comfort with public speaking.
  • Ability to study quilts and relate information to visitors

Support: Support will be provided by Volunteer Coordinator, Sherry Johnston

Dress Code: Dress casual

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
