The Binky Patrol is seeking volunteers to make hats for babies and preemies. The hats will be donated within the immediate vacinity of any of our Binky Patrol chapters. We have chapters established across the United States, so just contact us and we will get you started on this fun summer adventure!
This is a great opportunity for anyone who enjoys knitting or crocheting. For just a few dollars you could provide the yarn and needles/hooks and a simple pattern, then gather a group of your knitting and crochet friends, have them over for an afternoon of tea and conversation and make it a surprise group project while you're at it!
This is a great project for knitting and crochet guilds and can also be a great Summer Challenge project!
Hats may be knit or crocheted using soft machine wash & dry yarn and then delivered or mailed to one of our Binky Patrol chapters. Please no attachments on the hats. No strings, ribbons, or ties. Essentially nothing that could pose a choking hazard. And please remember to use machine washable and dryable yarn.
We hope you will consider making a hat or two to support the Binky Patrol and our mission ...
be a part of the solution to comfort children and teens in need!
Binky Patrol is devoted to reaching out to needy children, including HIV-positive, drug-addicted, neglected, abused, or children experiencing trauma in any way. Binky Patrol volunteers bring a caring, loving touch by creating and delivering handmade blankets, "binkies", to enrich the children's lives and to meet their most basic needs of warmth, security and comfort.
Binky Patrol's unique way of touching a child's life includes many mediums. To reach them, "binkies" are distributed through hospitals, shelters, and social service agencies. "Binkies" are to be given as gifts and are not recycled in the agencies.
Binky Patrol's volunteers as well as chapter leaders make blankets which can be crocheted, sewn, knitted, tied, and even quilted for ill and traumatized children.
