The Day Worker Center of Mountain View is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the communities of Mountain View Los Altos, and Palo Alto.. The Center was established in 1996 by local business owners, community leaders, and clergy members. In fifteen years, the DWC has gone from a street-based operation to a core community institution with broad-based support that serves both the day worker/immigrant community and the larger community.
The Center’s mission is to provide a safe and supportive environment to connect day workers and employers with dignity. In addition, the Center strives to empower day workers to improve their socio-economic condition through English as a Second Language instruction, job skills training, and legal and medical services. The Center also does advocacy around issues affecting the day workers.
Our center provides the following services: Job-matching for employers and employees, recommendations for fair wages, job skill classes, ESL classes and tutoring, Spanish tutoring, medical and other health services, support groups, and referrals to food, clothing, insurance and emergency assistance services.
