As a non-profit multi-cultural arts organization we are dedicated to promoting, presenting and preserving the African and Indigenous cultures of the world through Music, Art, Dance, Education, Technology and Sustainability. We are located in Balboa Park, down the from the world famous, San Diego Zoo. WBCC is the first solar building in Balboa Park and the second LEED certified building (Leadership Energy Efficiency Design). WBCC is one of the 2015 Balboa Park Sustainability Award winners. In 2015 we also received our first National Science Foundation Grant through the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
WorldBeat Center’s Ethnobotany Peace Garden is located south of our front entrance and is dedicated to ethnobotanists, George Washington Carver. WBC’s Children’s Peace Garden serves as an Outdoor Classroom that provides programming in Urban Birding, Citizen Science, Ethnobotany and Organic Gardening.

March 2016 In celebration of the spring equinox The WorldBeat Cultural Center would like to introduce NATIONAL SEED SWAP DAY at San Diego Heirloom Seed Swap. This will be our first annual Seed Swap Day at the WorldBeat Cultural Center in Balboa Park for a traditional seed swap on a grand scale with teachers of permaculture, master gardeners and other keynote speakers, live music, great food & workshops for all ages. We will have heirloom seeds of all kinds, edible rarities & garden obscurities.It is FREE & open to the public.
