do you speak Spanish and love kids? We are looking for adults to become friends to children (ages 5-15) who speak fluent English but their parent, (s) or guardians may not. Use your gifts of language, love of children, love of fun and laughter while you give back to the community.

Meet with the child once a week and do those fun activities you already enjoy doing. Might be bike riding, swimming, hiking, baking, crafts, or board games. You might plant a garden, visit a library, go to a movie or play catch. many children are on our waiting list hoping for an adult friend, couple or family to be their friend. They might be new to the USA and could use some direction with that transition.

flexible schedules to fit your time table.

We need individuals, couples or families to mentor the kids waiting. Call Penny for more information at 763-862-6755.

Mission Statement

Kinship Greater Twin Cities believes that every young person needs a role model. Kinship youth are matched with community mentors who foster supportive, holistic, and authentic relationships. Mentors and mentees are carefully matched based on common interests, aspirations and, when desired, faith connections. Kinship believes that the mentoring relationship is a mutually beneficial opportunity for all parties to grow. Kinship commits to providing resources and opportunities for youth and their families throughout the greater Twin Cities.

Description

Kinship actively invites individuals, couples and families into mentoring relationships with boys and girls ages 5-15. Focused on building lasting friendships through fun activities and quality time, the mentoring program creates sustained, supportive connections capable of giving youth the life skills they need to succeed. Kinship's mentoring model requires mentors to spend 2-4 hours per week with their mentee and are encouraged to participate in community events and activities centered around the youth's interests. Discovering new experiences together is also encouraged, opening the door for academic, social, and emotional growth. Life skills and work preparedness are also essential to our mentoring model, as well as optimism for the future and healthy living.
