Volunteer mentors are matched with a 4th grade student referred to our program by their teacher for one on one social and emotional support. Students and mentors meet weekly, eat lunch, talk, play games and develop a trusting relationship resulting in improved self-confidence, social skills and increased academic interest for the student and a sense of fulfillment for the mentor.

Mission Statement
To provide respect, support and encouragement for each mentored child within the framework of our school-based lunch time program.
Description
Volunteer mentors provide social and emotional support for 3rd or 4th grade students in Cleveland schools. Students referred to the program by teachers are matched with adult mentors who meet with them weekly at lunch time at the school. Trusting relationships develop through conversation and activities throughout the school year, enabling the mentors to provide support and encouragement as needed. These supportive mentoring relationships result in improved academic interest, self-confidence, and social skills for the students and a sense of fulfillment for the mentors. Mentoring relationships may continue through 5th and 6th grades and beyond.
