The National September 11 Memorial and Museum welcomes millions of visitors each year from around the world. 9/11 Memorial and Museum volunteers play a critical role in providing visitors with a meaningful experience.
Visitor Services volunteers are essential to the operations at the Memorial and Museum. They enhance the visitor experience by exhibiting exceptional customer service, directing visitors in a safe and efficient manner, and attending to visitors’ needs as they engage with the Memorial and the Museum’s exhibitions, programs, and amenities.
We are seeking Visitor Services volunteers who are personable, courteous, and are comfortable and capable of interacting with Memorial and Museum visitors. Duties include:
-Welcome and proactively engage each visitor
-Inform visitors about this historic location and the programs and exhibitions inside the Museum
-Assist visitors with directions
-Direct visitor queues and pathways
Visitor Services volunteers work at least four hours per week for at least six months. It is also requested that volunteers maintain the same shifts each week. The Memorial and Museum is open every day.
Volunteers must be 16+ and clear a background check. Volunteer posts require the ability to stand for up to four hours at a time, inside the Museum and occasionally outdoors on the Memorial. We provide all the training for volunteers to perform their duties effectively. Volunteering is a rewarding experience that enables individuals to develop interpersonal and teamwork skills.
