Tutor/Mentors work one-on-one with a 1st -5th grade student, referred to the program by Alexandria City Public School teachers. These are children who are reading below their grade level. Tutors meet with their student once a week, in the evening or on the weekend for an hour, in the public library. The time and place is discussed and set up between the volunteer and the student's parent/guardian.
Various enrichment activities are held throughout the year for you and your student to attend. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, attend an orientation, undergo an FBI fingerprint background check, attend training, and commit to a full school year. Ongoing training and support is offered throughout the year.More opportunities with Wright To Read
