Community Outreach Committee Members Needed! The success of the American Diabetes Association is dependent upon community volunteers providing leadership and direction to help fulfill our mission. A strong and committed Community Outreach Committee will strengthen the success and continuity of the ADA's programs and outreach activities for the Hampton Roads community. Today, 29.1 million people in the nation has diabetes. Primary purpose of the committee: Raise awareness through outreach efforts and program development. Offer expertise to improve public awareness of diabetes and the ADA. Recruit volunteers to assist in the delivery of services. Raise funds to assist the ADA in meeting its mission. "To prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people with diabetes." Expectations: To participate in monthly meetings/ conference calls and to participate in annual ADA programs such as Project Power, Victory Over Diabetes, Alert Day and to support other ADA special events, i.e. Step Out: Walk To STOP Diabetes, Tour de Cure, Cuisine for the Cure (etc).
