Volunteer Job Descriptions

Special Events Coordinator: The special events volunteer will assist the home with decorating home and ideas for fundraising. The individual will coordinate the fundraising activity with the assistance of the Activities Director. This volunteer will assist in solicitations of sponsorships, vendor donations, keeping records of solicitations, help with invitation mailings and manage or coordinate specific functions for the event. Help recruit and direct new volunteers.

Bingo Caller: Bingo caller volunteers will assist with setting up for the game and calling.

Caring Friends: A caring friend is a volunteer who is matched with a resident to provide companionship, helping him or her to interact in conversation and activities whenever possible.

Stroll Club: The stroll club volunteer will assist residents who enjoy the outdoors and assist them in a stroll outside. Residents may need minimal assistance with walking or need to be pushed in their wheelchairs. This volunteer will also assist the resident back to their room or requested area.

Reading Group: The reading group leader volunteer will read articles, newspapers, mail, poetry, novels, or the bible to the residents.

Adopt - A - Grandparent: The adopt-a-grandparent volunteer will be asked to commit to become a special friend. Will give attention at least two times a month, i.e., visit or write and show special attention on holidays and birthdays (a group may do this as well).

Current Events: The current events volunteer will read to update residents on local and world events as cited in the daily newspaper.

Beautiful You Program: The beautiful you program volunteer will give manicures to the residents (only polishing and filing their fingernails).

Night of Games: The night of games leader will assist the residents in playing various games of the resident's choice in the evening hours.

Community outings: The community outings volunteer will assist the Activities Director on scheduled outings out in the community such as: shopping trips, out to eat and field trips. We like to take as any residents out as possible and the duties will consist of loading and unloading the residents from the bus, assisting them with ambulation or in their wheelchair to engage in the outing.

Arts and Crafts Leaders: The arts and crafts leaders will bring new ideas of a craft or art projects and assist the residents in completing the craft project. The Activities Director will provide the necessary materials providing that they are within the budget.

Letter Writer: The letter writer volunteer will assist the residents in writing letters who are unable to write due to physical or slight confusion.

Scheduled Activities: The scheduled activities volunteer can assist the Activities Director with their daily activities.

Music Leader: The music club leader will provide music therapy to the residents while having discussions and reminiscing over the big band eras, classical, country, jazz and blues music.

Gardening Leader: The gardening club leader will plan gardening projects. Advise the recreational director on materials needed. Assist the residents in completing their projects.

Fitness Leader: The fitness leader will assist the residents with exercise classes adhered to meet the needs of the residents. This volunteer may obtain approval of the program they intend to utilize with the Activities Director or administrator.

Discussion Leader: The group discussion group leader will gather small groups of residents and provide conversational topics to discuss as age appropriate.
