Mission Statement

The Literacy Council of Frederick County (LCFC) teaches adults the reading and other English language skills they need to provide for their families and to contribute to the well-being and prosperity of our community. For more than 45 years we have offered free one-to-one tutoring in basic reading, writing, and spelling to English speaking adults. We also provide similar services and small group instruction in conversational English, reading, and writing to non-English speaking adults. We teach approximately 120 adults each year and have approximately 25 students waiting for tutors!
