Each One Teach One

Adults over the age of 18 who wish to tutor other adults in basic literacy (reading and writing) and/or work with those for whom English is a second language. You must truly love people and have an open heart and lots of patience. We will train you in the Laubach method and set you on the path to success. All new volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Information Session (60 minutes) and 14 hours of tutor training. Details about the orientation and trainings are found on our website at www.frederickliteracy.org. Registration is required for the info session and tutot training workshop.

Mission Statement

For more than 45 years we have offered free one-to-one tutoring in basic reading, writing, and spelling to English speaking adults. We also provide similar services and small group instruction in conversational English, reading, writing, and spelling to non-English speaking adults.

We teach approximately 120 adults each year and have approximately 30 students waiting for tutors!
